About the Film
Directed by William Castle, master of the outrageous horror gimmick, Strait-Jacket is a delirious slice of psychological terror that doubles as one of Joan Crawford’s wildest star turns.
Crawford plays Lucy Harbin, freshly released from a mental institution after twenty years for a brutal axe murder, only to find herself surrounded by fresh killings. Is Lucy losing her grip on reality again, or is someone else wielding the blade?
From Crawford’s fierce and unhinged performance to Castle’s signature mix of suspense and spectacle, Strait-Jacket delivers decapitations, gasps, and nervous laughter in equal measure.
