About the Film
Directed by James Whale — one of early Hollywood’s few openly gay filmmakers — The Bride of Frankenstein isn’t just a horror classic, it’s a beautifully strange, subversive, and deeply queer masterpiece.
Ernest Thesiger’s Dr. Pretorius is pure high-camp villainy, the Monster’s longing for love and acceptance echoes the timeless outsider experience, and Elsa Lanchester’s iconic Bride — all angular glamor and wordless fury — arrives like a vision from the future of drag.
Darkly funny, visually stunning, and packed with subtext, The Bride of Frankenstein is the rare sequel that surpasses the original — and one that comes fully alive when experienced with a crowd.

Meet Your Hosts: The Tampones
Back for the first time since 2018!
Ashby Blakely and Nicia Carla (stars of Vampire Lesbians of Sodom) reunite as Alphonse and Carmella, The World Famous Tampones! Bringing their signature blend of sessy surreal cabaret, ukuleles, jokes, and magic to kick off the night.

The Venue
Our event will take place in the intimate screening room located in the back of the legendary VisArt Video. A landmark of Charlotte's East Side, Charlotte's only surviving video store is conveniently located near Plaza-Midwood and many preshow dinning options in the Eastway Crossing shopping center
